Jon,

It's likely that the current set up of the Netserver needs to be updated.
The passwords portion of the configuration sound suspect at this point.

At a time when you can cut all the connections for a couple of minutes, you
might try to stop the Netserver, and then use the GUI to reconfigure it with
the current values keeping in mind your new domain controller.

I would not change the domain on the IBM i instance but there's no reason
not to if you want the IBM i to "join" the domain. The domain name is just
a name given to the SMB connection software. There are ties into the OS at
various points so if you do change the domain name, make sure the network
attributes update when you reconfigure (CHGNETA/DSPNETA)

Also keep in mind you can use the QNTC to map SMB shares and make them
available on the IBM i box as well. (a change to the start up program will
be needed to reestablish the link at start up)

There are several threads on the list on both topics if you search for a
bit.

Subject: iSeries NetSever Domain Question

All,

We have recently gone to a Windows Domain Controller and are now having
problems with PC's losing their connection to a shared network drive which
resides on the iSeries. If I disconnect and try to reconnect to the share,
sometime it prompts for a password even though this share is setup to use a
guest account with no password required. Some PC's won't connect at all
anymore. Does anyone know if changing the current domain name in the
NetServer configuration to match the new Windows domain name may help? I
don't want to just try it and cause bigger problems because I am not sure
what the purpose is of the domain name on the iSeries configuration.

TIA.

Jon
