Nathan,

Regarding your suggestion to create HTML and then convert to PDF is something that I have looked at briefly. We have been struggling with how to create nice looking reports from RPG and our IQ Query tool. I know that IQ Query can create an HTML report and the same can be done from RPG using various methods. Are you using iText to do the conversion from HTML to PDF? Can you share any examples of your method?

My understanding is that IBM i Print Transform Services attempts to map AFP
fonts to PDF fonts. You suggested that an IPL might be required after
installing AFP fonts. But I question that - seems rather odd.

We generate 150+ reports in our student information system, including GUI
fonts and images by generating HTML stream files which reference a shared
CSS file for styling (standard web technologies), then transform the HTML
to PDF. Have you ever considered something like that?
