FWiW: Yet the single 50-byte datum, the "text field associated with *a* user profile" [emphasis mine; presumed an accurate reflection by the OP of what is desired], either of the Retrieve Object Description (RTVOBJD) or the Retrieve User Profile (RTVUSRPRF) for their TEXT() are arguably much simpler interfaces, and are quite likely to be nearly as fast if not faster than any of those other APIs; i.e. as a CL Command performing a /retrieve/ feature, those each are also effectively an API.
