Mike, you have a program with sockets ability talk to a switch like posted
earlier (
http://www.controlbyweb.com/webrelay-quad/webrelay-quad_users_manual.pdf).

On the terminal, they press a Function key to turn it on sending a code to
the switch, then press a key to turn off, sending the OFF code.  Since it
is under program control, you have the stats you need.  Just needs to be
driven from a native program on the 400.  The large monitor can be driven
by another native program another program controlled from a data queue that
displays alternating screens, or not...
