If I were tasked with this, I would strongly favour writing an external
UDF that implements this in RPG via scan/replace fed by your existing
translation table. That's because this seems very much a custom
translation as opposed to a standard code page conversion. One could
write a pair of wrappers; one for SQL and one for *PGM objects to
consume. Store both in a service program.
