Two reasons I run into: First many companies have audit requirements that
force physical media off site. That could be mitigated by a second VTL that
is replicated but most don't want the extra expense.

Second: "We've always done that and I refuse to change" OK knock yourself
out, you still get the value of the VTL and physical media. (and the
expense for both as well)

I am curious as to why some people who are using VTL's duplicate everything
to physical tape.
Is it because they only have one VTL and it's local so, therefore, they want
to get something offsite?
We're finding out that the labor of physically handling media, dealing with
Iron Mountain, training backup personnel to cover physically handling media,
etc is a big PITA.
