They get hex'25' in the EBCDIC value of NNOTES where we want hex'0A'.

I think the same thing happens if they use an explicit hex'0A' in a prepared statement,

BUT

if they DON'T use a prepared statement, an explicit hex'0A' in the SQL produces the desired hex'0A' in the field.
