That's OK. Those two terms are effectively synonymous, when talking
about single characters. Even though Windows uses CRLF as its newline
marker rather than just LF, it's still generally understood that "the
newline *character*" is LF. (This is helped by the fact that the
ancient Mac convention of using a naked CR as its newline marker has
gone away.)
