That didn't stop IBM from stopping enhancements to SEU and now that won't
even support the newest language enhancements.

I understand that any analogy I come up with is always flawed and totally
off base but I just reiterate my plea to use the Enhanced and open
tickets.

Look at how few people clicked on the "take a look at our new support
portal preview". Failure to do so and complain vociferously resulted in
us getting that garbage foisted on us.
