the answer is: yes

It depends on your shop and what you want to do.

Me I would still store it in QDDSSRC. But the 80 column limitation is for
real. I suppose you could enlarge that by a new CRTSRCPF RCDLEN(you can
go up to 32766). Move all the members from the old to the new, and rename
the new to QDDSSRC.

But with all the flexibility in adding and changing stuff on the fly
perhaps storing the DDL is more risk than benefit. The source may be out
of date compared to the physical.
