IPL From NAS is different story. So far as I know there is no supported way to make that happen. Potentially if you set up the tftp and NFS servers correctly with the right BOOTP directory it could work but good luck getting IBM to help if(when?) that doesn't happen!

A 32GB Stick would hold the entire O/S and LPPs so that's an option.
You could also use an RDX.
You can boot from the network.
You can attach a tape drive.
And yes it supports a DVD Drive.
