The 7.1 doc shows an ENDTCP before the ENDSBS as well.
I'll try the backup again this weekend, with an UNMOUNT beforehand.

An important thing to remember is that with the last several releases of IBM i it is very important that you end TCP before you attempt to bring the system into a restricted state.
Even if you get the messages "System ended to restricted state" some TCP/IP processes will still be running.
This is documented.
Therefore run the ENDTCP prior to ENDSBS *ALL.
Now, at 7.3, the help for GO SAVE 21 does state that it will do the ENDTCP prior to the ENDSBS.
