Glad you're OK.

I don't know about "official" splicing, but I'd probably take a shot at using IDC (red or Yellow) connectors like on phone twisted pair. Homer Depot has them. Cheap.

Somewhat better would be to put RJ45 plugs on each end and use an RJ45 butt connector.

Yes. The house is up on pier and beam, so it stayed dry. The garage and my
attached office took on water when the ditches overflowed. The bayou canal
down the street couldn't keep up with 38 inches of rain.

Thanks to 4-5 inches of water, I have now removed all of the lower 4 feet of
drywall in my office. My Ethernet cable has a jack on what I consider the
wrong side of the room, and now that the studs are exposed, I'm planning to
relocate the jack to the other side of the room.

Can anybody point me to a simple splicing kit?
