" Have you considered simply creating an NFS share?"

The office manager does this once a month. It's PDF copies of all invoices
generated during the month. She copies them to her desktop and then burns
a CD. We actually have a drive mapped and she used to do it via Windows
copy/paste to her desktop. Took about 5 minutes.

Now that the IBM i is in a data center, Windows copy/paste takes an hour.
That's too long. I used FileZilla on my desktop and just dragged it to my
desktop. Took about 15 minutes. After sleeping on it, I think I'll just
install FileZilla on her desktop and we'll do it that way. Seems the
simplest.

Thanks everyone for your help.

Correct, you'll have to build the directory structure on the target and
cycle down though the folders. Also in your post I thought you were on a
PC as opposed to IBM i, so that's why prompt would be needed. Since we now
know you are trying to do this from IBM i that changes things.

Writing a script to move it all in BASH or QSH could be made to drill down
into the directory and move it all.

Have you considered simply creating an NFS share?

Remember you have to be in the folder to use 'mput'. It will not move
the
folder and all of its contents, it will move all the files that it sees,
but
no folders.

So you're saying mput will never work for what I'm wanting to do, ie,
move
all files and subfolders.

Use Filezilla or WinSCP (both free) on the desktop to grab a folder and
move
it.

That would be great for me, but this is going to be done by an end user
and
the KISS principle is paramount here.
