Mark? What for? That link has nothing to do with my original
inquiry and seemed to only contrast the differences between the
different ftp's.
There are three major file transfer mechanisms that are often confused.
FTP - File Transfer Protocol
FTPS - File Transfer Protocol using SSL (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki
/FTPS)
SFTP - File transfer using SSH (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki
/SSH_File_Transfer_Protocol)
FTP & FTPS use traditional FTP nomenclature. FTPS adds security using SSL
certificates.
SFTP uses SSH to establish the connection, using either password or
private key authentication, and it's own protocol to perform the actual
file transfer.
Although SFTP sounds like FTP, it's totally different than traditional FTP.
Scott's utility provides traditional FTP support. I don't think it
supports SSL or SSH. In fact, implementing SSL is on the 'to do' list
mentioned in the source.
