The problem we have is that if we always do what we always done we always get what we have always got. I am in JDE World as well but we have the GUI version of the program for users who want GUI. I am forcing the issue of Free RPG as well. I have to look at what is left behind and did I leave it better for the next person. Enterprise can >> run on the IBM I which I proposed. I just think we always have to keep modernizing our code even if it is in baby steps.

Just bear in mind that when Enterpriseone does run on the i, it is entirely in various components of Java/C++/proprietary 4GL language. You don't need the RPG compiler at all. Very few things are done at the Business Function level (C++), very few are done at the Java level, most is done in OMW/the proprietary interface for batch and interactive programs. While I couldn't live without CL, I would love for my fellow programmers to finally give up RPG ILE. Just this week I saw a level check error! In 2018, I saw a level check error! What's next, I have to sort a card deck?
