Brad,

Should be and are, are two different things. IBM makes the best systems
but have the worst business systems on the planet.

Reality is it takes upwards of 45 days to get a renewal done, and
complaining that it should not be that hard (It should not by any means) is
not going to get IBM off the mark and fix it. It just is.

Unless very senior management take a serious look at how hard it is to do
business with IBM, it's never going to change, and since those same people
built the systems that are the problem, it never will. You'd think IBM to
be a technology company run by technologists. Could not be further from
the truth. IBM legal and finance run the business and the technology is
secondary to the legal/financial concerns.

Yes. 2 weeks should be plenty of time. If not, it's not my issue, it's
IBM's.

Punch it in, send an invoice get a check. It's quite simple.. unless
you're using punch cards and dot matrix printers which it seems IBM still
is judging by their invoices and time it takes to get an invoice.

Someone should tell IBM about how open source could save them time and
money in this process. <tic>

Well, just an update on this.

It only took 24 hours for my contact at IBM to "submit a request" to the
techline team for my SWMA renewal.

But it's been two weeks and I haven't heard diddly from them. SWMA
expires
tomorrow. This could get interesting. lol...

You're lucky IBM even sent any notification. They don't for SWMAs.
But
I
did notice online a little red exclamation point next to the info
online.
Of course, no where does it say what that means.

And if you have any Passport Advantage products, (they can't be
included
in the same SWMA, so I'm told), that renewal is also cumbersome.
We have three, RDI floating licenses, IBM Data Replication, Spectrum
Protect Suite (formerly Tivoli)

These products we all have with various BP, (not all BP can sell/renew
all products).
A renewal also comes from IBM to renew these.
Last week I received another email from IBM, stating since these
products
were NOT renewed, they will be cancelled.

I had to send the renewal details (for each product/BP) back to IBM to
avoid cancellation.

Ditto...yeah, you can raise the stink but the IBM developer contact

have had the same contact...

I would hope the fact that I've reached out would cancel any late
fees.
If
not, a stink will be raised. lol

+1.

Years back my renewal was delayed (don't ask), our maintenance

Took an act of congress and a good part of a month to be

Long story short, don't ever let your contract expire if in need
of
support, because you won't have any.
