What does clustering around an iASP buy you? Does that just give an alternate CPU a chance to use the data if the primary CPU fails?

True that but it's frozen in time at the point of the flash copy. Any
transactions at that point will not be reflected.

Depending on your needs this could be good or bad. For example flashing
at month and and keeping that for a week makes it simple to do month end
queries or reports there with no effort. However if you expect to see
current values you're out of luck!

Also be very careful if you're backing that up because if the
application isn't properly stopped you may have an inconsistent save
point. Clearly depends on the application.
