I don't understand.
The OP is already talking about using a command on the SDA menu, right?
He needs a bigger command line because he wants to add more parameters, right?
So how is copying the command and using CHGCMDDFT going to be different, other than allowing a shorter command string on the menu?

But changing the default won't cut it. Unless I put ?-MYPARM(MYPARMVALUE) in there to suppress the display of that parm, it will be displayed and the user will be able to change it.

Another option is to CRTDUPOBJ on the command and use CHGCMDDFT to
change the command defaults to get by having to provide less parameters.
Only caution is to do a DSPCMD on it first and make sure you're not
changing the defaults on a "proxy" command.

Jeff,
Use UIM menus ... see:

e-rolling-menus-with-uim

for a nice "how to" article.

All,

Is there a way to increase the command length on a standard SDA menu?
I'm thinking not.

I have a command on a menu and I added a parm. Now it won't fit.
Most of the parms are preceded by ?- because I don't want the user to
be able to change them, the new parm included.

Is my only option to encapsulate it into another command?

Thanks.
