Hmm. The emulator we use internally (and which we bundle with our CRM product), which I helped write, does not even *have* auto-reconnect (I've never even heard of such a thing until now), and if it has a "device in use" collision when connecting, it (1) increments the counter in the device name, if you specify a device name, and (2) stops trying and puts up a dialog after a set number of failed attempts to connect.
