This can work if you do preparations.
On IBM i you can boot from SAN copy and then automatically adjust
ressources, adresses etc.
Using VIOS this can be a tremenous task when that VIOS hosts
multiple LPARs etc. So it’s better aproach to have dual VIOS
with redundant storage etc if hosting the LPARs and NPIV not available.

That's the reason for IPLing off the SAN. To support DR. I come from the
mainframe world where we have no storage on the host it all being on the
SAN which the host IPLs off and if continuously replicated to the DR site.
