I don't have specifics, but in general, nothing differently - a 5250 solution should be able take advantage of the constraints and referential features of the database and be able to call stored procedures or even web services, just as the so-called "modern" interfaces would do.

As I recall, you've been playing with newish ways of calling stuff in RPG, so it seems you're right there, ready to go, mostly!
