I have 3 hosting lpars:
RACK1HST: Power 9 in Indiana
RACK2HST: Power 9 in Michigan
RACK3HST: Power 8 in Indiana
All LPARS, hosting or guest, are at IBM i 7.4.
I placed an order for some PTF files from IBM averaging 3.8GB or so:
The CUME_1.bin byte count is: 3815768064.
The CUME_2.bin byte count is: 3720818688.
The CUME_3.bin byte count is: 3898273792.
The CUME_4.bin byte count is: 3813789696.
The CUME_5.bin byte count is: 447109120.
Using plain ftp from IBM i I started the transmission prior to the network change.
I got CUME_1 and CUME_2 fine. During CUME_3 (the biggest one) it died. I figured, no big deal, these things happen. However I cannot get it to complete from RACK3HST even after several attempts. It gets over 3gb before it dies but doesn't finishes.. I tried RACK1HST and that died at 3710028648 also. It also dies about that same place on RACK2HST.
There was a bunch of network changes in Indiana Friday night during the middle of this, which I attributed to the first failure.
I thought maybe there was something corrupt in that file, CUME_3.bin, so I reordered the PTFs and got new files. Same situation, dies on the new CUME_3.bin.
I ended up getting it successfully by running the same series of FTP commands from a laptop located at the site in Indiana.
