Have you looked at Scott Kelments FTP Api? It executes the FTP step by step
and is designed so that you can determine if the step worked correctly. If
you go to www.think400.dk/downloads.htm and look for project FTPOBJ
between systems there is an example of using the API.

I need a immediate response to read the log file. On many of the FTPjob
scripts before my time, the logs were not saved, so I would like to break
in and scan the log file.
It seems this is not do-able?

Subject: Is there a user exit or something similar that I can use to
monitor when a FTP command is complete?
CAUTION: This email originated from outside of the organization. Do not
click links or open attachments unless you recognize the sender and
anthe content is safe.
We have many FTP processes and we need to know when the FTP command has
completed so that we can read the FTP log and look for failures.
To save modifying hundreds of programs, if there were something like
relatedexit point that can tell me the transmission is complete, I could thencall
a program to read the log and advise if there is a failure.list
TIA
