Any specific web technology preferences ?

Language-wise, you could use .Net, PHP, Python, Node.JS, Java, Ruby, Perl, RPG, etc.

You have options but you need to pick a platform that fits your teams existing or desired skillsets.

It's very easy to create a web app these days that can talk to services on multiple platforms.

The biggest learning curve will be:
HTML, JS, CSS

And creating the UI flow and deciding the services you want to expose.

My personal favorite is using .Net because it can interact easily with IBMi, SQL Server and any other database and is easy to pattern Web Apis and sites.

subject: framework suggestions

Our company has two platforms (via mergers) MS SQL and the iseries. We will be keeping both.

The boses are looking for a framework to develope a common web application that would sit over both. The thought is after login, the user would be directed to the correct platform. We are thinking of creating web services on both platforms that would talk to the web application.

Just was looking for advice/thoughts from the community on this.
