Ok first time participating in the forum. So I am not sure if I am replying
to the correct thread. Apologies if I am posting in wrong group
Jim,
I had the same B6000449 error when I installed the latest cume last week.
Opened a case and was informed about MF66517 ptf which needs to be
permanently applied prior to applying the ptfs.
I was told that the current cume package instructions will be updated as
soon as possible.

Agree with the process, I've never seen this happen before except when
system had really old groups and needed a respin of the LIC put on first.that.
In this case it had all groups/cumulative as of July 2021 on the system
prior to putting this one on.

Weird. I always get a message that an IPL is required to put the TR onagain.
and it acts like the INSPTF aborts. I do a
CHGIPLA STRPRTWTR(*NO) STRRSTD(*YES)
PWRDWNSYS DELAY(120) RESTART(*YES *FULL) IPLSRC(B)
Followed by another INSPTF, which almost always tells me that no PTF's
were installed. Do whatever else I need to, then another PWRDWNSYS
Might be an extra IPL, but it seems to work and I can't argue with

Rob:
That?s exactly what was done, everything ordered at one time in one
download. It failed spectacularly. What we are learning is on this
latestanyway, the cumulative/groups need to go on ahead of the TR, at least a
V7R4.

?I'm rather curious as to why you would put on a TR and not the
'recommended'cume that came out with it?
SI76780 says in it's cover letter that it is part of C1238740.
A few other sources also confirm it's in that cume.
I order all groups, the cume and any ptf's listed at the
atsite by scrolling down until I get to the drop down for 'Select Topic'
fileshttps://www.ibm.com/support/pages/ibm-i-support-recommended-fixes
All of these are ordered at the same time and appear in the *.bin
OfI downloaded.

that?s as close as you?ll get to what I?m looking for. The problem
Thanks Jack, I did look at those yesterday as well, and my guess is
onethe PTFs IBM had me install to fix the customers problem citing thesewere
required are not in those lists, and not that I could find as pre/co
requisites for any of them.
I?ll open a case and undoubtedly they will point me to a document,
iseriesflorida@xxxxxxxxx>that can?t seem to be found with any of the search engines or IBMsinternal
search.

I know for instance that MF66517 / SI76780 are required to be
applied to V7R4 before the TR is applied. (One of my customers
that
out the hard way) The problem is I cannot find any documentation
list.lists
those requirements.
I can find Special Instructions, but that's not a prerequisite

Anyone else found them?
