When I was at Fortra, they brought on a couple of interns just out of
school.
They had a little bit of IBM i exposure at their school I believe.
They turned out to be phenomenal.
There is a lot of competition and dog eat dog on the other platforms, for
entry level talent...
I'd think anyone serious about making a career out of software engineering
would find an opportunity on the IBM i appealing, as long as it was
presented to them the correct way.
Shops should really look at interns, in-house schooling and shadowing, if
they plan on staying with the system.
