Thanks Stefan,

Well, that is definitely one option and would not be hard to automate a daily comparison.

I have not found that info in the SQL tables IBM has provided but I really expected it to be there.

I do appreciate your reply, thank you!

Don

DSPFD FILE() TYPE(*MBR) OUTPUT(*OUTFILE) FILEATR(*PF) OUTFILE(QTEMP/XXXX) OUTMBR(*FIRST *REPLACE) Will give you the statistics for reads/writes/updates/open/close since last ipl.
Run that twice and look at differences, keep in mind that an ipl will reset the counters.

Best regards

Stefan

Subject: Database analysis

I am trying to help someone out with analysing file adds, changes and deletes to ascertain the amount of these transactions on a daily basis.

I have been looking at the system tables and statistics and can find some of the information.

Is there a system table function that will provide this information or would I need to get this from journals ?

A second question was to look at some of the data that was changing. In the past for debug purposes I have used DSPJRN and then copied the output into a table with the journal fields and the original table fields and then reviewed that data. Is there any new SQL functions that simplify that process or make reviewing changes easier ?

Any links or suggestions appreciated.

Thanks

Don
