In general I agree but there are some edge cases where FTP is still a transfer protocol of choice over ssh/scp/sftp.

- Automatic text conversion. Especially in the i environment this is very helpful because it completely hides the EBCDIC mess from the external world.

- Bulk data transfers with the highest possible data rate with the least amount of CPU clogging due to encryption.

So, it's again "it depends". :-)
