Thanks Jim,
following your steps,
I cannot get logged in the HMC with my hmc user id. ( MGSOCK007 - Could not
connect. (Connection timed out: getsockopt) the verify connection says it
fails on port 2300, but succeeds on port 2301.

So Seven steps, --or--

On the connection properties to the HMC, in the console tab inside ACS
press the "Advanced" button:
In there you can set the user profile, the managed system, and the
partition that you want to sign on to.
You will need one of these connections for each of your fast path consoles.
(one for each system/partition)

A bit of set up but I think accomplishes your goal.
