Hi, Rob,
It appears that Mark Rauzier has identified an interesting option -- *INDIR available on CRTDIR and CPY.
Perhaps you can use command exit points for those commands to force the default to *INDIR, so that no matter how someone creates a file in the IFS (e.g. using FTP, or i Navigator, or whatever, you should be able to get the Unix authorities set the way you want.
All the best,
Mark S. Waterbury

Authorization lists are better performing than group profiles. They
definitely make the backup faster.
Jim, it's not a 'few minutes' to backup. SAVSECDTA on this machine adds so much time they literally cannot get a backup to complete between end of day and start of the next. They transfer to the controlling subsystem with a BCHTIMLMT of 720 minutes and it still times out. It is NOT that big of a system. Granted, the LTO6 tape drive w/o fc and the four spinning disks is a kick in the boys.
