My bad. I googled for "ibm+i copy ipds spool file to afp" and the AI overview said:

"To copy an IPDS spool file to AFP on an IBM i system, you'll use the|CPYSPLF|command, specifying the spool file and the desired destination for the AFP output. You'll need to find the spooled file's name and job number, then use the|CPYSPLF|command to copy the data to a physical file or stream file, optionally converting it to PDF."

It even said

"If copying to a stream file, you can optionally convert it to PDF using a workstation customizing object (WSCST) like QWPTIFFG4 for TIFF or a PDF-specific object like QWPPDFG4 for PDF."

But QWPPDFG4 doesn't exist on any IBM i I have access to, and googling for it finds nothing, so I don't know where it came up with that.

Interestingly, in https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/using-cpysplf-re-create-spooled-file-or-create-pc-file, it states that

"The CPYSPLF command can be used to copy *SCS and *LINE spooled files, those spooled files that are generated with the Printer device type (DEVTYPE) parameter set to *SCS or *LINE in the spooled file attributes; however, this does not work on *AFPDS or *USERASCII spooled files and may not work on *IPDS spooled files."

The "may not work on*IPDS spooled files" being the interesting part.

And how would one go about copying IPDS to AFP?

I know of no way to do so.
