I have sometimes found the problem with the task manager, watching the processes list while sorted by CPU. I have also solved (for some) by removing spy ware. If you have not tried download Ad-Aware, or spy hunter, and run them to see if they can pinpoint some of the problem.

Good Luck

My W2K machine slows to a c....r....a......w.......l the longer it is
on. Even alt-tab between windows takes 15-30 seconds. Got all the
latest MS patches, SP's etc.
I've noticed it particularly starts slowing down (it gets slower as day
wears on) after I access Info Center, so I purposely have been using it
on another PC instead. I've also noticed it slows down after the first
time I hit a site requiring Java and the Sun JVM starts up (coffee cup)
in system tray. Searching so far has found me nothing. Any ideas???
