I have a strange one with my son's laptop. It started about 2 weeks ago.
He brought it home from college over Thanksgiving for me to mess with. It's
XP Pro with SP2.

Under his user name, Internet Explorer (IE) won't run. Nothing happens. He
had someone in his dorm remove/reinstall IE with no luck. I have run
Viruscan, Ad-Aware, and SpyBot. Did a disk cleanup. Mozilla runs fine.
Tried the quick launch icon, desktop icon, and clicking on IE directly in
Windows Explorer. I even opened a command prompt in the C:Program
Files/Internet Explorer directory and keyed in "iexplore.exe" No luck and
no error messages. Went through the IE troubleshooter and found nothing.

Under my user name, it works fine. No troubles whatsoever.

When he first went to college 2-3 months ago, there were various things
installed such as SmartEnforcer Client, but there were no problems until
recently. In poking around, I found the university (Anderson) had changed
Windows Update to point to some place on their site. This made sense,
however. Can you see thousands of students downloading SP2 simultaneously?
<g>

I have never seen this behavior before. Any suggestions appreciated.
