Anyone seen this before?

The CDRW drive in my laptop is no longer being recognized as write capable.

If I put a blank CD in the drive, the system reacts as usual and pops up the
CD utility to ask what I want to do with it. However, it doesn't matter
what option I select, the drive is not recognized as write capable. I've
tried two different CD burning programs and both behave the same.

Any suggestions?
