It's the "windows only" printers that usually fail. I insist on "network ready". I've connected HP's, Zebra's, the Ricoh was a pain..., Canon, Toshiba,Dell and others. I have found that if it's in that list with "N" (does not connect) I have never gotten them to work. At my rate, and your salary) it's not worth
saving $100 bucks and then spend several extra hours making it work. Also, the continual calls from users.... it disconnected, it won't rotate, the print is too small, etc. I've usually convinced management it will cost"extra money" (in time, effort, user dissatisfaction) to go outside the list.
Just search "ascii printers" in the Knowledge Base and there is a plethora of documents to work with. jim franz----- Original Message ----- From: <Bryan_Burns@xxxxxxxxxxxx>

I know what web page you're referring to, but I've never checked it before I bought something and I've never bought anything that I couldn't connect to the iSeries properly. We have about 30 HPs, 20 Zebra's, one Ricoh, and one Dell connected to the iSeries. All the printers are *LAN except for the Zebra's. Brand name alone doesn't do it. jim----- Original Message ----- From: <Bryan_Burns@xxxxxxxxxxxx>To: <PcTech@xxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, January 04, 2006 4:24 PM Subject: [PCTECH] Small workgroup copier?Need suggestions on replacing a RICOH 1013F printer/copier/fax used in a parts area. FAX isn't required. Printer has 50,000 pages, copier20,000pages and FAX 59 pages in 3 years. The machine has been problematicfromday one with frequent jamming and feeding problems. I'd prefer to get a stand-alone printer and copier. I have no trouble specing out just a printer, as I probably buy two a month - everything from a $6,000 XEROX 7750 Phaser to a $200 HP inkjet. Can anyone recommend a small office copier though? HR usually handlesourcopiers, but I think I'm better in tune with the needs of our users andifI can find a decent personal or workgroup copier, I can cut HR out oftheequation.
