Hi Jon!

I ran into this problem several years ago trying to install Red Hat. The UBUNTU 
installation program is graphical, as was the Red Hat version. Debian's install 
program was text based so it didn't require as much space. I think the box I 
tried to install it on had 32meg of RAM.

Try starting over with Debian.
