I agree with that statement.  And yes, it's the old BetaMax vs VHS thing
all over again.

I don't get this... the only client platform where Java is possibly NOT
thriving is Windows.  You seem to have a very Windows-centric view of the
world.  And even on Windows there's plenty of Windows client-side code.

And most other platforms have quite a bit of Java code.  I don't know if
it's the majority; I guess that depends on the platform.  But client-side
Java is far from dying, and in fact it's constantly being improved.

And then there's SWT, which is the Eclipse cross-platform GUI, which is
becoming as pervasive as Swing.  It's becoming the de facto standard for
various applications, including Lotus Notes.
