How about this for a convincing argument, Buck?

You be the R&D guy, the one that tries out the new stuff, ideas, and methods. If it works and others see a benefit, the company would then buy for everyone wanting the upgrade. If it doesn't work out then thats fine too.

In the past I've done dual monitors with two cards and with a single card that supports two monitors. The single card was a LOT easier.

Looks like the consensus. Thanks!

If the company isn't committed in the project enough to invest in the hardware/software then they shouldn't allow you to spend company time pursuing it either.

It's about 'fairness.' It wouldn't be fair for the company to buy one developer a second monitor setup and leave the others with singles. Since I'm the only one interested in dual monitors, there isn't any demand for the company to lay out the cash to upgrade everyone. Dual monitors aren't a priority with the SEU/PDM folks.

I appreciate your comments Dave. Even spending my own money and doing it off-hours, I might not get past the fairness people. The reason for the thought is that making my hours at work easier on myself is easily worth the size of the expenditure I'll be making, and I can always take it home if I can find the desk space there :-)
