IMAP-UW comes with a tool named 'dmail' that you can call from your procmail scripts to deliver mail to any of the mailbox formats it supports.

So I'll use dmail in my procmail recipe with something like this:

:0:
* ^List-Post:.*pctech@xxxxxxxxxxxx>
| dmail +mail/IN-l-pctech

Since I have procmail configured as my default mail delivery program, all accounts on the system are using procmail for delivery. Since mail is read through either alpine or IMAP-UW, both of which are based on the same cclient library (as is dmail) for working with mail, I have no conflicts.

But, I definitely plan to run MIX on a test box for awhile before converting the company's e-mail!

Be careful when using alternate mailbox formats ... you need to make sure that ALL the utilities you use are compatible.

For instance ... procmail knows how to deal with at least mbox & maildir ... but I don't know if it knows how to deal with dbox or mix.
