I'm happy that you and John haven't had problems with Windows Vista.

On the other hand, my dad and my nieces (both of whom are very ill with
Cystic Fibrosis) have new machines ( < 1 year old) running Vista that have
/all/ had to be reformatted and restored because of problems.

By the way, my Dell M65 laptop is not /that/ old - it is a 1.6 GHz Core 2
Duo machine with 2G of memory that could be upgraded to 4GB, but I'm just
flat not going to waste any money on a Vista upgrade. Windows XP runs just
fine on it. BTW, I also have a copy of XP running on it in a virtual
machine with only 512M allocated and both perform well.
