Although the major blacklists don't block bulk mail vendors such as ConstantContact we have found that a great many in-house appliances (SonicWall etc.) are often configured to block it. Many people on our mailing list have had to switch from their work address to a home address in order to get our mailings.

However, since you do "many mailings", you should consider a third-party
service (such as ConstantContact or VerticalResponse) for the news and
alerts to insure compliance with the various laws around SPAM, to give the
recipients an easy "opt-out", and to manage the workload on your email
server and internet connection. They can also give you delivery reports and
that sort of thing.
