Thanks everyone. I've got a couple of options to try now.

No, not trying to convert commercial tapes; just family memories.

Thanks
Bob

Bob - Amazon has quite a few available - see here: https://www.amazon.com/slp/convert-vhs-to-digital/curhvwtw75x48wn prices start below $40.

As long as they are your own (i.e. not commercial) tapes it should work well. If they are commercial tapes (e.g. movies) then they will probably not work unless you are using a very old VCR that does not have the anti-piracy feature on it.

Bob -

I have a little device called Dazzle Video Creator that plugs into a
USB port. It accepts either RCA audio and/or video or S-video. It
comes with software for the PC to help with the import process.

It probably costs less than $100.

Anyone have experience doing this? What tools did you use and how
well did they work?

I have a collection of VHS-C tapes with lots of memories I'd like to
get digitized.
