Hans,
I love your example:
H dftactgrp(*no) bnddir('QC2LE')
When will it be ptf'd to V3R7? Can all the compiler options be specified in
the H specs?
options(*string) would be nice on V3R2, any idea when it will be ptf'd back?
Yes, I know that I am about to become unsupported, if I could only convince
management to spend the money and go to V4R3 on all three boxes, which means
throw out a perfectly good transaction processor that just happens to be a
CICS machine running at 20%cpu usage. (No justification to upgrade to a
RISC box based on usage.)
Maybe after the AS500 comes out with its 128bit processor running at
hundreds of gigahertz. <g>

You already have that capability, in a way. Try out the following
RPG program:
H dftactgrp(*no) bnddir('QC2LE')
D atol pr 10i 0 extproc('atol')
D * value options(*string)
D num s 10i 0
C eval num = atol('1234')
C num dsply
C eval *inlr = *on
The trick here is that function "atol" is part of the C run-time
library, which is shipped on every AS/400. So basically, consider
every routine defined in the C run-time as available to you!
Cheers! Hans.
