Is there not the caveat to this that records added by other programs since the file was opened may or may not show up in the resulting operation? I seem to remember this bu am not sure about it. However, it will retrieve info if it is successful. It is more efficient to use setll when you are only interested if a record exists in a file. If I want to know if a record with an identical key is already in the file, I SETLL. Yes, there are application reasons to do this! _______________________________________________ This is the RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries (RPG400-L) mailing list To post a message email: RPG400-L@midrange.com To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/cgi-bin/listinfo/rpg400-l or email: RPG400-L-request@midrange.com _______________________________________________ This is the RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries (RPG400-L) mailing list To post a message email: RPG400-L@midrange.com To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/cgi-bin/listinfo/rpg400-l or email: RPG400-L-request@midrange.com
