Scott,

You were right: we placed indicator 97 in the Error column and were very
consistent with that, too.

I think it strange: whether you use the BIF and leave the indicators out or
fill in an indicator in the Error column, both methods are accepted by the
syntax checker; only placing the resulting indicator  of the read/chain
action in the wrong column will the syntax checker signal an error.

Methinks, this is a bug: if you use a resulting indicator, the syntax
checker should check wheter  the right column is filled, or not. Leaving
out any indicator assumes you are going to use the (right) BIF.
