Learning a language well enough to use its benefits is not a matter of a few hours time on a couple of weekends. It takes at least 3 years of intensive and hard work with plenty of experience. Of course anyone can crank out their first "Hello World" program sooner but to be a worthwhile programmer in the business environment in less then 3 years does not happen anywhere but in the mind of the self-important.
