Maybe it's possible to do this with the _Ropen(), _Rread(), etc APIs?
Maybe if you explained WHY it can't be externally defined, we could point
you at a solution.

For sure, you can read externally defined files in 30-byte chunks if
that's all you're after.  That's not terribly difficult.

I'm pretty sure it's not possible with an ordinary program described file,
though.
