Just some conceptual questions regarding the subject line.

D EXCP_MSG 40 46
...
callp(e) qcmdexc(cmd : cmdlen);
select;
When excp_msg<>*blanks;
...
1) Is it pointless to check excp_msg if %error is not turned on?
2) Point of information. When I called qcmdexc earlier with an error it
filled excp_msg. Calling it successfully does not clear excp_msg, thus my
'logic' thought this call was in error also.
I think the answer to question 1 is not only is it pointless, but based on
point 2, it will send you on a wild goose chase. But I value your
esteemed position. If you think that I still should check it, then should
I blank out the following prior to calling qcmdexc:
D EXCP_MSG 40 46
D EXCP_TYPE 40 42 * Exception type
D EXCP_NUM 43 46 * Exception number
...
D EXCP_DATA 91 170 * Exception data
D EXCP_ID 171 174 * Exception Id
