So we've gone from theory to absolutes? This is software we're talking about, right? All I was saying is that as an RPG Archeologist, I would conclude that the programmer probably had: (A) the same code to handle the subfile-full condition as the error condition. Or (B) Did not fully understand that Resulting Indicator 3 means "subfile full" and added the error indy "just in case". -Bob Cozzi www.RPGxTools.com If everything is under control, you are going too slow. - Mario Andretti -----Original Message----- From: rpg400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:rpg400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Wilt, Charles Sent: Wednesday, March 23, 2005 4:16 PM To: RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries Subject: RE: Question of the use of HI,LO,EQ indicators Bob, Not sure I'd agree that an error reading the subfile should be treated the same as hitting EOF. But, forget it's a subfile. All the other opcodes allow this to do they not? Doesn't seem to me like it is a good idea to use the same indicator in both places. Is this a generally accepted practice? Does it really work? Is the indicator set on if there's an error OR if you hit EOF?
